AMERICAN FOOTBALL
American Football era una banda de indie rock, proveniente de Urbana, Illinois. Formada en 1997 por el guitarrista Mike Kinsella (anteriormente de Cap’n Jazz, Joan of Arc y actualmente de Owen), el grupo tenía un estilo que combinaba las líricas introspectivas e íntimas del emo con ciertos aspectos típicos del math rock, también se hizo evidente en su primer LP American Football la influencia del Jazz en su estilo músical, junto a este primer y único LP realizaron un EP con su mismo nombre en 1998 (el LP sería lanzado un año después, en 1999, año en que la banda se separó).
